Container Dimensions In today’s logistics activities, preferred containers are measured within the international rules, as they are suitable for transportation in terms of capacity, protection, and compliance in air, road, project, and ocean transportation. Container sizes vary by their types and purposes. The material used and the way the load is forwarded also affect the container dimensions. The container dimensions determine how much freight the container can carry. These dimensions have been calculated in a compatible and supported manner by international logistics companies for ease and integration in transportation. In this context, freight container dimensions are categorized by their capacity and types as 20’ and 40’.

20’ and 40’ DC Container

DC, i.g. Dry Container is standard type containers that do not require any extra features and transportation type (cooling, keeping at a constant temperature, etc.). 20 ‘and 40’ DC Containers are standard containers used for general purposes. Container dimensions are determined in accordance with international use and their thread dimensions are fixed. Internal dimensions may vary. It has a single opening door. Production with aluminum and steel materials is generally preferred.

20’ Container Dimensions:

Width: 2.35 m Length: 5,90 m Height: 2.37 Volume: 33 m³ Kerb Weight: 2.300 kg Load Capacity: 21.770 kg

40’ Container Dimensions:

Width: 2.35 m Length: 11.98 m Height: 2.35 m Volume: 66 m³ Kerb Weight: 3.700 kg Load Capacity: 26.780 kg

20’ and 40’ Open-Top Containers

They are almost no different from standard containers. Since the goods are loaded only from the door in Dc containers, this facilitates the loading of large-scale goods that cannot fit through the entrance. Loading is done from the roof hatch with the help of a crane.

20’ Container Dimensions:

Width: 2.35 m Length: 5.89 m Height: 2.35 m Volume: 33 m³ Kerb Weight: 2.400 kg Load Capacity: 21.600 kg

40’ Container Dimensions:

Width: 2.35 m Length: 11.98 m Height: 2.35 m Volume: 66 m³ Kerb Weight: 3.850 kg Load Capacity: 26.630 kg

20’ and 40’ Flat Rack Container

It is the name given to containers whose sides and roof can be removed in use. The front and back parts are also removed as needed. It is used for loads to be transported from different locations. Their soles are thicker and heavier than standard.

20’ Container Dimensions:

Width: 2.20 m Length: 5.60 m Height: 2.20 m Kerb Weight: 2.530 kg

40’ Container Dimensions:

Width: 2.44 m Length: 12.08 m Height: 2.40 m Kerb Weight: 5.480 k

40’ and 45’ High Cube Container

It is used for transporting lighter and higher volume goods compared to others. Unlike standard 40’ container dimensions, it is 30 cm longer.

40’ Container Dimensions:

Width: 2.35 m Length: 11.98 m Height: 2.69 Volume: 76 m³ Kerb Weight: 3.970 kg Load Capacity: 26.780 kg

Container Dimensions of 45’:

Width: 2.35 m Length: 13.50 Height: 2.69 m Volume: 86 m³ Kerb Weight: 4.590 kg Load Capacity: 27.900 k

20’, 40’ and 45’ Reefer Container

These are container types that have a cooling unit powered by fuel and electric motors. Steel or aluminium is preferred. Usually used for food products. It is also used for some materials that need to be stored at low temperatures.

20’ Container Dimensions:

Width: 2.23 m Length: 5.42 m Height: 2.26 m Volume: 28 m³ Kerb Weight: 3.200 kg Load Capacity: 20.800 kg

40’ Container Dimensions:

Width: 2.27 m Length: 11.50 m Height: 2.20 m Volume: 58 m³ Kerb Weight: 4.900 kg Load Capacity: 25.580 k

40’ High Cube Reefer Container Dimensions:

Width: 2.29 m Length: 11.56 m Height: 2.50 m Volume: 66.6 m³ Kerb Weight: 4.500 kg Load Capacity: 25.980 k

Swap Body Container

Unlike the others, it is a container system used in rail and road transport for containers produced with light materials that cannot be stacked on top of each other and cannot be transported by crane from above. These containers are pretty thin. It minimizes costs such as fuel and transfer since it usually has its own feet or wheels.

Swap Body Container Dimensions:

Width: 2.42 m Length: 13.40 m Height: 2.98 m Volume: 96.5 m³ Ceiling Rise: 30 cm
